Parent Resident Visa Requirements and Process
Follow the steps indicated below to apply for a parent resident visa.
1. Register Expression of Interest (EOI)
You will be placed in the Pool, which will remain up to 2 years. Your application may be selected in the ballot system, which takes place every 3 months. The first selection for new applications is scheduled in August 2023.
2. Apply for a visa after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
If your application is selected by meeting the requirements Prima facie, you may receive an Invitation to Apply, commonly called ITA. At this stage, you will be required to submit all the pertinent documents to demonstrate that the following requirements are met for approval of your visa application.
- Sponsorship requirement
- Health requirements
- English requirements
- Partnership requirements (if your partner is included)
- Character requirements
3. Wait for the conclusion of INZ assessment
The more your documents are submitted to collaborate your claim with a persuasive cover letter to explain the entitlements, the more likely and quickly your application will be decided by reducing processing time. Immigration New Zealand may ask for further information, and your comment to mitigate your concerns or conduct an interview. At this stage, INZ does not indicate the average processing time for parent resident visa applications.
